Orchard banks of probable post-medieval to modern date are visible as a series of linear earthwork banks on aerial photographs of 1947 onwards, at Clarendon Farm. Orchards are depicted here on the First Edition Ordnance Survey map of between the 1880’s-90’s. Aerial photographs of 1947 show that the site of the orchards remains largely covered with trees, although by 1966 these have been almost completely grubbed up, leaving a series of parallel northeast to southwest and east to west aligned earthwork banks, on which the fruit trees were established, visible. These banks occupy a combined area of approximately 0.82 hectares of gentle north facing slope, within three plots depicted on the First Edition OS map to the north, east and south of the farm. The orchard banks are visible as earthwork banks on Lidar-derived images of 2005.
