Two relict earthwork boundaries might correspond with depicted field boundaries.

Former field boundaries were visible on aerial photographs of the 1940s onwards and digital images derived from lidar data as shallow earthwork ditches to the north of Francis Court Farm, Lower Budlake.
The earthwork ditches or gullies are up to circa 20 metres in width and were probably evidence of hedgerow removal and possibly slumped drainage ditches. They defined a system of small rectangular fields up to 200 metres long. The earthworks are relatively regular in plan and might therefore have a post-medieval origin. One or more may correspond with field boundaries depicted on the Tithe Map for Broad Clyst and therefore survived as boundaries into the 1840s but most were removed prior to this date. The relict boundaries are not depicted on the Ordnance Survey First Edition map of the 1880s-1890s but the line of one or two of the former boundaries may be indicated by schematically depicted rows of parkland trees, probably grown out hedgerow planting.
