Possible orchard banks of post-medieval to modern date are visible as earthwork banks on aerial photographs of 1967, to the north of Blackhorse. An orchard is depicted here on the First Edition Ordnance Survey map of between the 1880’s-90’s, although by 1946, aerial photographs show that the orchard trees have been almost completely grubbed up, although the earthwork banks, upon which the trees were established, are not clearly visible. The earthworks, only visible on aerial photographs of 1967, are visible as a series of parallel northwest to southeast aligned earthwork banks which occupy an area of approximately 0.50 hectares of moderate east facing slope, within a single irregular shaped plot depicted on the First Edition OS map. The orchard banks appear to have been completely or largely levelled sometime after 1967.
