A small sub-square cropmark was visible.

A possible former small quarry or extractive pit was visible on aerial photographs of 1946 as a cropmark on the north-west facing slopes south of Upton Pyne. The cropmark is roughly square in shape and measures approximately 15 metres square. The of date and product of the possible quarry are unknown, although its proximity to Upton Pyne Hill might support the interpretation that is it was related to road building.
