Full description

Hosegood, V., 17/11/2014, Woodlands Barn, Cornworthy, Devon. Results of a Desk Based Appraisal (Report - Assessment). SDV359546.

It is unclear whether there was a building here at the time of the First Series Ordnance Survey map of 1809. However, a building is shown in this location on the 1844 Tithe Map which is recorded as a barn and yard (plot 815) on the Apportionment, owned and occupied by William Widdicombe. At that time the barn was part of a holding known as Diamonds and Tozers. The 1889 first edition Ordnance Survey Map records a more rectangular building than that shown on the 1844 Tithe Map. The building appears, therefore, to have been altered or rebuilt between 1844 and 1889. Since then the building has remained relatively unchanged in plan.
