A former field boundary of probable post-medieval to 19th century date was visible on aerial photographs of the 1940s onwards and digital images derived from lidar data, as an earthwork bank flanked by narrow ditches on the north bank of the River Otter, east of Clapper Lane Bridge. The relict earthwork corresponds with a field boundary depicted on the Tithe Map for Combe Raleigh. It is not shown on the Ordnance Survey First Edition 25inch map, supporting the interpretation that the boundary was removed between circa 1840 and 1880.
