The remains of probable post-medieval to 19th century ridges made for fruit tree planting and improved orchard drainage were visible as low, parallel earthwork banks under light orchard planting on aerial photographs of 1947, on the north-west facing slopes south-east and north-west of Tovehayne Farm, Monkton.
The earthworks correspond to plots depicted as orchards on the Ordnance Survey 25 inch First Edition map. However, slight differences in character were noted between the two areas. To the north-west the banks were spaced roughly 4 to 5 metres. To the south east, the spacing was almost double this, and on a slightly different orientation to reflect the slopes of the come. On aerial photographs of 1982 the trees have been largely cleared. The banks cannot be identified on digital images derived from aerial photographs taken in 2014 but may survive as low earthworks.
