A possible extraction pit of post-medieval to 19th century date is visible as an earthwork pit on aerial photographs of 1948 onwards, at Field’s Farm. The semi-circular earthwork measures approximately 30m in length by 19m in width and abuts, and so post-dates, a field boundary along its southern edge. The earthwork also appears to be partly depicted here on the First Edition Ordnance Survey map. It remains visible on aerial photographs of 1989 and is also partly depicted on the 2016 Ordnance Survey MasterMap.
