An earthwork pit of a possible post-medieval to 19th century clay pit is visible on aerial photographs of 1948 onwards, to the north of Middleton Barton. The sub-circular shaped earthwork measures approximately 22m in diameter and lies in close proximity to a clay pit depicted on the First Edition Ordnance Survey map, as well as other earthworks recorded here as part of this survey. The possible clay pit is visible as an earthwork pit on aerial photographs of 1989.
