HER Number:MDV1152
Name:CHURCH HOUSE in the Parish of Witheridge

Summary

The church-house stood immediately west of the south gateway to the churchyard with its north side in the latter. It was thatched, with what seem to have been two square brick chimney-stacks on the ridge. Of two storeys with three upper windows and two lower windows with a doorway on the front (on the ground floor) which faced south. East were two windows, one of two lights over one with three lights, both with labels, and probably of stone and mullioned. The house made the main road through the town so narrow at this point that an agricultural vehicle could scarcely get through. An old print made before the house was demolished shows the church and the church-house very clearly.(copeland).
