A linear earthwork ditch, up to 12 metres in width, was visible on aerial photographs taken from 1982, and on images derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2014. It fits into the historic field pattern, which has been characterised as originating from ‘Barton’ fields. The ditch is interpreted as the remains of a field boundary of post-medieval or early modern origin, which fell out of use prior to the mid-19th century.
