A possible former extractive pit of probable post-medieval to 19th century date was visible on aerial photographs of the 1980s and 1990s as a roughly circular earthwork circa 28 metres in diameter on the south-west facing slopes to the south of Higher Rodway Farm, Stockland parish.
The earthworks did not correspond with any pits or quarries depicted on the Tithe Map for Stockland or the Ordnance Survey First Edition 25 inch map. The extractive use of the pit had therefore probably ceased prior to the 1840s. The pit remained clearly visible as an earthwork on digital images derived from lidar data and therefore probably survives as an earthwork.
