Two irregular shaped earthwork depressions are visible on images derived from lidar data captured in 2016. The depressions partially correspond with old marl pits depicted on the First Edition OS map. The plot is recorded as 'Higher Clay' in the Tithe Survey. The depressions are interpreted as old marl pits of post-medieval origin, that ceased extraction by the late-19th century.
