Field to northeast of Thornhayes Cottages (Thornhayes Farm on OS 1891 map) called Church Close on Tithe Map/Tithe Apportionment (Tithe Apportionment No. 1446, arable c. 2.25 acres). No building shown. No church/chapel site identified in the area. It is possible that the name refers to land belonging to the church rather than to an actual church building. No early references for Thornhayes given in Gover.
