The depression corresponds with two plots: 'Pit Orchard' (Plot 1422) and 'Pit' (Plot 1420.1).

A large irregular shaped earthwork depression circa 85m by 70m is visible on images derived from lidar data captured in 2016. It corresponds to two plots on the Tithe Survey. The northern plot is recorded as 'Pit Orchard' and the southern plot as 'Pit'. The depression corresponds with an 'Old Marl Pit' depicted on the First Edition OS map and as earthworks on maps thereafter. The depression is interpreted as a marl pit of post-medieval origin, part of which passed out of use prior to circa 1840 and part by the end of the 19th century.
