Summary

Badlake. Plans and plates given. Built of cob and rubble masonry, reinforced with stone facing. Main house of 15th century with major alterations in 16th century. Traditional plan. A striking feature is a slightly tapered, round chimney top above a gabled breast on the south wall. Round chimneys common in somerset, but rare in devon. The 15th century porch door is lightly moulded with a roll between two hollows. The left jamb with the lintel is carved from a single piece of oak. The porch ceiling has a central chamfered and stepped stopped beam with close-set square joists. A small window with a wooden light with trefoil head, pierced through a single slab of oak is a unique survival (alcock and hulland).

Badlake. Plans and plates given. Built of cob and rubble masonry, reinforced with stone facing. Main house of 15th century with major alterations in 16th century. Traditional plan.
