A shallow ditch or hollow up to 8 metres wide was visible as an earthwork to the south of Lower Milton. The visible earthwork fell within a plot depicted as an orchard on the 19th century mapping available to the survey, but was broadly in keeping with the layout of the surrounding field pattern. The earthworks are tentatively interpreted as a former field boundary that was cleared prior to the mid-19th century.
