The remains of narrow ridge and furrow was visible as low parallel earthwork banks on aerial photographs of 1946 on the west facing slopes west of Tale Wood, Payhembury parish. The ridges were up to 4 metres apart and were extremely regular in plan, covering an area of approximately 1.25 hectares. The ridges run obliquely to the contours of the combe and might have been aligned on the stream to the north-west, and were probably made in the 19th century to improve drainage. The banks are not visible as earthworks on digital images derived from aerial photographs of 2010 and have probably been levelled.
