Summary

Built in 1891 as a terrace of houses, they were bought up in 1910 and converted into a temperance hotel. A popular hotel, it continued in use until 1982, when the main part was converted into flats, retaining the bar area, which was later extended. Closed in 2016.

The early 20th century historic map shows the terrace, marked as 'The Tors'. Not shown on the late 19th century historic map.

Built in 1891 as a terrace of houses, they were bought up in 1910 by Charles Wilson, a gentleman and strict churchman, and converted into a temperance hotel. At the time, Yelverton was very popular as a place for convalesce as it was thought that the air was very pure. The hotel was very popular was granted a full licence in 1962. A buttery was added in 1969 and remained in use until 1984.
The hotel continued until 1982 when the main section was converted into flats. The bar remained as the Devon Tors Inn and was extended in 1984.

Public house has been subject to an enforcement notice (2015) and as of 2016 is no longer trading as a bar.
