A curvilinear ditch nearly 400 metres long and under 2 metres width was visible as a earthwork on aerial photographs of the 1940s on the east bank of the River Tale west of Luton Green Farm, Broadhembury parish.
The ditch is interpreted as probably the remains of a field boundary of post-medieval to 19th century date. The visible relict earthwork does not correspond with any boundary depicted on the 19th century maps available to the survey but was broadly in keeping with the character of the depicted boundaries to the north and south. It is therefore interpreted as the remains of a former boundary of post-medieval to mid-19th century date.
The ditches were not visible as earthworks on digital images derived from lidar data captured from 1998 to 2014 and have probably been levelled.
