The remains of parallel ridges almost 10 metres apart were visible as very subtle earthwork banks over an area of less than 0.2 ha on aerial photographs of 1946 and digital images derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2014.
The visible banks did not correspond with any orchard depicted on the 19th century maps available to the survey.
The visible earthworks are therefore interpreted as the remains of banks made for fruit tree planting and improved orchard drainage, dating possibly from the post-medieval period or the 19th century that passed out of use prior to the mid-19th century.
