Rectilinear enclosures or terraces defined by ditches on average 2 to 6 metres wide were visible as earthworks on aerial photographs of 1946 and on digital images derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2014, to the west, north and east of Sewards, Plymtree parish.
The visible earthworks did not correspond with any field enclosures depicted on the 19th century mapping available to the survey, although they were broadly in keeping with the character of the surrounding field pattern. The earthworks have been interpreted as the remains of former field boundaries or infield enclosures probably of post-medieval origin, associated with the farmstead at Sewards and removed prior to the mid-19th century
