A linear earthwork bank circa 3 metres wide and 50 metres long was visible on aerial photographs of 1947 east of Sycamore Farm, Chardstock parish.
The visible earthwork does not correspond with any boundary depicted on the 19th or early 20th century maps available to the survey, on which the plot in which the bank is located is depicted as an orchard. It is however in keeping with the character of the surrounding field pattern.
The bank is therefore interpreted as evidence of a former field boundary of probable post-medieval date that was removed prior to the mid-to-late 19th century. The bank was not identified on later images available to the survey and may have been levelled.
