The west side of the northern extension appears to coincide with the Civil War earthwork.

Donn's map shows the extent of the deerpark centred at SS526190, substantially same as delineated on the Ordnance Survey 6 inch 1905 map with fence skirting the gardens of Stevenstone House and extending north on the east side to include the present kennels area at SS530194. The west side of this extension appears to coincide with line of Civil War earthwork. The Ordnance Survey 1 inch 1809 map shows an enlargement of parkland northward, the footpath at SS523196 probably preserving the line of the fence which extended east into Squirrel Wood a little north of the kennels. Considerable additions in extent of parkland are shown on the Ordnance Survey 6 inch 1905 map.

From the 15th century the Rolle family resident at Stevenstone had "their warrens for conies and their park for deer" according to Risdon in 1630.

Lysons wrote that ‘there is a deer park at Stevenstone in which are some red deer.’ White (1850) noted that it was ‘a fine old mansion, with a deer park'. The sale particulars for the estate in 1909, then of over 6000 acres, mention the ‘grandly-timbered deer park’ of 500 acres'.
