'Scottington Barton (site of)' shown on OS 25" (1880s) map.

'Scottington Barton' was mentioned as 'Scotteneton' in 1345 and may refer to Irish settlers.


Oliver, M. F. C., 1951, Roborough. Its Manors and Bartons, 250 (Article in Serial). SDV232.

Recorded in the assessment of 1345 as Scottenton, lying just to the south of Roborough.

The site is marked by a level platform running E-W set on a south facing hillside. A spring rises immediately to the north of the site.
