Summary
It has been suggested that Ford Moor Cottage may have been the Ford Moor Gate toll house which was sold to Lord Portsmouth by the Barnstaple Turnpike Trust in 1879 when the Trust closed down. However, the cottage is now thought not to have been the toll house.

Ford Moor toll house was sold to Lord Portsmouth by the Barnstaple Turnpike Trust in 1879 when the Trust closed down.

Ford Moor Cottage may well be the Ford Moor Gate toll house mentioned by Rogers on the Barnstaple road.
