Full description
Jenkinson, T., 2006, Unclassified/B3257 Lewtrenchard to Bere Ferrers (Report - Survey). SDV348114.
Milestone 0.5 miles east of Bere Alston on the grass bank at the fork to Bere Ferris and Calstock. Standing 209 metres high, this is the tallest brick/slate marker on the route. Dated to circa 1868. It has a white painted legend on both the front and back faces with sowrd/dagger direction arrows. Inscribed To/Beeralstone/1/2 Mile/To/Beertown/3 Miles. One of a group of milestones thought to relate to the building of the Bible Christian Chapel in Beertown 1868. This particular milestone shows the old name of 'Beertown'.
