Full description

Three small structures, lying to the south/south-east of the quarry at Meldon are depicted on the late 19th century historic map.

In 1885 three small structures lay to the south of the quarry. One remains as an overgrown ruin, the others have been subsumed into the expanded quarry. There is no indication of their function but they are in the area where pumping activity would have been concentrated. Short lengths of walling, some mortared, and concrete stances are dispersed over much of the area south, east and north of the quarry. Their original form and function is not obvious.
