Full description
Morris, J., 1985, Domesday Book: Devon (Part One), 49.4 (Monograph). SDV356768.
Small manor or settlement of 'Colun' recorded. 'Fulchere himself has 1 virgate of land in ?CULM (Vale). 1 villager who pays 10s'.
Collings, A. G., 2017, Some Problems with Fulchere's Devon Manors (Article in Serial). SDV360800.
In the past Culm Vale near Stoke Canon and also Whiteheathfield near Cullompton have been suggested as the locations for the small Domesday manor of Colun. However, based on the boundary description of the Saxon manor of Hrocastoc compared to that of the present parish boundary of Rewe, Collings suggests that Colun may have been located by Columbjohn, another of Fulchere's manors. See article for full details.
