Full description

Kaye, S, 2018, Enclosure, Great Lakes Wood, Knowstone (Interpretation). SDV360807.

Observation on external lidar may show a possible sub-circular enclosure.
Lidar (DTM, 1 m, SW Tellus Project completed in 2013) shows what is possibly a semi-circular, promontory enclosure within the woods (plantation) of Great Lakes Wood near Knowstone. Crucially MonUID: MDV1193 (Hillslope enclosure, sub-oval in plan, formed by a single bank with an outer ditch) is approx. 420 metres north-west of this possible enclosure. On the lidar data both look very similar; single dark outer line inside of which is a thicker white line, i.e. an outer ditch inboard of which is a raised bank.

University of Exeter, 2020-2021, University of Exeter Unlocking Landscapes Project – validated data, ULDEV117 (Interpretation). SDV365999.

Ovoid univallate enclosure shows very clearly on National LiDAR Programme LRM - much clearer than TELLUS data which the current HER record cites.

Environment Agency, 2021, University of Exeter Understanding Landscapes Project - Lidar visualisation (Cartographic). SDV366001.

A curvilinear bank and ditch are visible as an earthwork.
