A roughly circular soilmark approximately 10m in diameter is visible on digital images derived from aerial photographs of 2006-2007, on the south-west-facing slopes of Gilpin’s Bottom, Ashcombe. The soilmark is interpreted as possible evidence of a former pit of unknown date. The possible pit is not visible as a soilmark or cropmark on more recent sources available to the survey.
