A hollow or ditch is visible as a cropmark on aerial photographs of 1999 to 2016, to the north-east of New House Farm, Mamhead. The visible cropmark is circa 8 metres wide and up to circa 70 metres long. It does not correspond with any features depicted on the 19th century maps available to the survey. It is interpreted as a possible former road or tack that was cleared prior construction of the model farm in the early 19th century.
It is possible that the earthwork is evidence of a former field boundary associated with an earlier phase of settlement on this site.
