Earthworks visible as three sub-oval shaped pits surrounded by outer banks and interpreted as former post-medieval or 19th century quarries are visible on digital images derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2014, to the southwest of Thornecroft, Staverton. The cluster of three earthworks, which measure approximately 32m in length, are near to and likely associated with a quarry recorded on the 1845 Parish Tithe Map and First Edition Ordnance Survey map (MDV49076), although the earthworks do not correspond with any pit features shown on these maps. This supports the interpretation that the three quarries had likely passed out of use by the mid-19th century.
