An oval shaped earthwork pit, circa 23m in length by 18m in width, surrounded by an outer bank, circa 15m wide, and interpreted as a post-medieval or 19th century extractive pit is visible on aerial photographs taken in 1946 and digital images derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2017, to the west of Younghouse, Broadhempston. The earthworks do not correspond with any pit features on the available 19th century mapping, which supports the interpretation that the possible extractive pit had passed out of use prior to the mid-to-late 19th century.
