Full description

Royal Commission for the Historical Monuments of England, 1993-1998, Dartmoor Royal Forest Project (Report - Survey). SDV346608.

(19/09/1994) SX 59147944. A small rectangular platform located on the steep east-facing slope above the right bank of the Cowsic River, 400 metres north-east of Conies Down Tor. The structure measures internally 3.0 metres (north-south) by 1.8 metres with a coursed boulder revetment up to 0.5 metres high on the north, west and south. The eastern margin is marked by a slight stony rim on the edge of the platform. A possible entrance lies in the southern end.
There is no indication as to the antiquity of this uncharacteristic monument. However, it lies on the northern periphery of a scattered Bronze Age settlement (SX 57 NE 103-110) and may have formed an element of it.

Newman, P., 2004, Merrivale Range Baseline Condition Survey (Report - Survey). SDV346874.

(10/08/2004) As described in 1994. In an area of shortish grass. Condition is stable.
