Marked on the Lydford Tithe Map as the only building in a tenement at Hexworthy; 1114 on the Apportionment. 'Dwelling house and gardens', owned and occupied by Philip Michelmore. The dwelling is a rectangular building aligned north-west by south-east at right angles to the lane that borders the plot on the eastern side. Two small structures adjoin it on the south-western side, at the north-west and south-eastern ends.

Ordnance Survey, 1880-1899, First Edition Ordnance 25 inch map (Cartographic). SDV336179.

The late 19th century historic map depiction shows the development of the farm and although the farmhouse appears largely similar to its earlier depiction, it may have been altered/extended by this time.

Dartmoor National Park Authority, 1993 - 1997, Dartmoor National Park Authority Farmstead Survey 1993-1997, 04/03/1997 (Report - Survey). SDV344544.

Farmhouse probably 18th century or earlier. Said to have been a public house called the Ring 'O' Bells after the bells worn by the leading pack horse.

Ordnance Survey, 2018, MasterMap 2018 (Cartographic). SDV360652.

The modern mapping shows the Ring of Bells at Hexworthy, which may retain original building fabric.
