Cropmarks of curvilinear banks and ditches are visible on aerial photographs of 1946 on the south-west facing combe slopes south of Lower Dunscombe Farm, Chudleigh.
Less than 4m wide and over 200m long, the cropmarks do not correspond with any boundaries depicted on the 19th century maps available to the survey but do match infrequent tree locations depicted on the Ordnance Survey First Edition 25 inch map, probable evidence of former hedgerow planting. They are also aligned on a second tree alignment to the north. The cropmarks are interpreted as the remains of a former field boundary, possibly of medieval to post-medieval origin, that was removed prior to circa 1840.
