Parallel earthwork ridges circa 10m wide were visible on aerial photographs of 1946 as earthwork banks to the south of Chudleigh Bridge, Hennock. The plot in which the banks are visible is listed as an orchard on the Tithe Map for Hennock as Bridge Marsh (Plot 224). The banks are interpreted as earthworks made to enhance drainage within this marshy area probably between the post-medieval period to early 19th century. The banks cannot be seen as earthworks on more recent images and have probably been levelled.
