Curvilinear ditches or hollows are visible on aerial photographs of the 1940s and digital images derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2017 as slight earthworks following the contours of the south-west facing slopes east of Babcombe Farm, Kingsteignton.
The subtle earthwork hollows are up to circa 5m wide and define curvilinear boundaries descending the combe slope.
The southernmost earthworks correspond in part with a field boundary depicted on the Tithe Map for Kingsteignton, but not the OS First Edition 25inch map. The visible earthworks are interpreted as the remains of former field boundaries possibly of medieval origin, most of which were removed prior to circa 1840, those at circa SX86657691 between 1840 and 1880. The ditches remain visible as slight earthworks on digital images derived from aerial photographs of 2015.
