Three earthwork pits, irregularly shaped and up to circa 30 metres wide, are visible on aerial photographs taken from 1969 and on images derived from lidar data captured in 2013. They are interpreted as post-medieval quarry pits, perhaps for limestone extraction given the nearby limekilns and quarries depicted on the late-19th century maps (including Caton Quarry MDV60874). However no features are depicted on the available historic mapping in the location of these particular earthworks so they are likely to have gone out of use by the mid-19th century.
