Full description
Dyer, M., 1998, Archaeological Observtion at St Andrew's Church, Halberton (Report - Watching Brief). SDV339470.
A burial vault was discovered under the pathway to the south porch of the church during resurfacing works. It was brick-built, circa 2.80 metres by 2.30 metres, with a shallow vaulted roof. The long axis was orientated north-south. The interior was rendered and whitewashed. The remains of 4 or 5 leather-covered metal-studded coffins were seen inside. An entrance to the vault in the west side had been bricked up.
