Name: | Earthwork at Drizzlecombe |
---|
Summary
A small horseshoe-shaped earthwork measuring 2.8m in internal diameter lies above the streamworking remains flanking the right bank of the River Plym some 200m south of the Drizzlecombe stone rows. The sloping interior is enclosed on three sides by a turf and stone bank 1.1m wide and 0.4m high and is open to the north. It seems likely that this feature is related to military activity in this area and may utilise a former tin pit. Another possible feature to the south-west may represent modern disturbance.

(03/08/1999) SX 59236685.
A similar feature is depicted by Robertson (1990) at SX 59176674 some 125m to the south-west but this appears to be a small area of recent disturbance.
