Summary
Earthworks of irregularly shaped pits and a bank, interpreted as the extractive pits and associated spoil heap of possible post-medieval or 19th century mine workings, are visible on visualisations derived from lidar data captured in 2010 and 2013. Irregularly shaped earthworks of three pits, between 15-55 metres long, and a bank, circa 94 metres long, are visible on visualisations derived from lidar data captured in 2010 and 2013. The earthworks are located towards the western corner of a land parcel that is defined along its north-west edge by a road.
The earthworks partly correspond with a dashed-line feature shown on the late 19th century First Edition Ordnance Survey map.
They are interpreted as the extractive pits and associated spoil heap of possible post-medieval or 19th century mine workings, that had been abandoned by the late-19th century.
Understanding Landscapes Project, 2020-2021, University of Exeter Understanding Landscapes Project - Volunteer data, 315.7 (Interpretation). SDV363949.
Ground disturbance unable to be identified and may be caused by modern agriculture but could also be possible unrecorded mine workings. SX 460 706.
