Linear banks are identifiable as subtle earthworks on visualisations derived from lidar data captured in 2013 and 2019 crossing the contours of the south-west facing slopes to the west of Gawton Farm.
The visible earthworks do not correspond with any boundaries depicted on the Tithe Map for Gulworthy or the Ordnance Survey 25inch First or Second Edition map. However, they are in keeping with the character of the surrounding field pattern and are probably the remains of field boundaries of post-medieval origin, perhaps with medieval antecedents, that were cleared prior to the mid-19th century.
The earthworks include those interpreted by the Understanding Landscapes project as possible strip fields under ID 292.1

Understanding Landscapes Project, 2020-2021, University of Exeter Understanding Landscapes Project - Volunteer data, 292.1 (Interpretation). SDV363949.

Pair of parallel field boundaries possible small strip fields not shown on epoch 1 sx453686.
