Full description

Devon County Council, 1838-1848, Tithe Mosaic, approximately 1838-1848 (Cartographic). SDV349431.

The visible earthwork corresponds with Plot 200 on the Tithe Map for Clawton, listed as a Quarry.

The visible earthwork does not correspond with any pit depicted on the Ordnance Survey 25inch First Edition map.

An irregularly shaped pit is identifiable on visualisations derived from lidar data captured in 2005 and 2013, as an earthwork up to 45m across cut into the north-west facing combe slopes to the north of Longlands Cross.
The visible earthwork corresponds with Plot 200 on the Tithe map for Clawton, listed as a Quarry.
It does not correspond with any pit depicted on the Ordnance Survey 25inch First Edition map and had therefore probably ceased to be worked between the 1840s and 1880s.
