Full description

Ordnance Survey, 1880-1899, First Edition Ordnance 25 inch map (Cartographic). SDV336179.

The depression does not correspond with any depicted features.

The depression was initially transcribed as part of the Tamar Valley NMP survey. Further details from the survey database, including aerial photograph references and interpretive text, are awaiting accessioning.

An earthwork depression is visible.

An oval depression approximately 8 metres by 21 metres, situated in a field to the north-east of West Panson, is visible as an earthwork on visualisations derived from lidar data.
The depression does not correspond with any features depicted on the available 19th century historic maps. It was initially transcribed as part of the Tamar Valley NMP survey and is interpreted as a probable post-medieval or early 19th century extractive pit that ceased to be worked by the 1880s.
