Summary
Several irregular shaped mounds and two short parallel curvilinear banks are visible as earthworks on visualisations derived from lidar data captured in 2005 west of Anderton. They are tentatively interpreted as spoil heaps and trackways associated with prospecting activity of post-medieval origin. Alternatively, they could be natural in origin.

Four irregular shaped mounds between 7 and 20 metres across and two short parallel curvilinear banks between 27 and 35 metres in length are visible as earthworks on visualisations derived from lidar data captured in 2005. The earthworks are situated in a south-east sloping field west of Anderton.
The earthworks do not correspond with any features depicted on the available historic maps. A quarry is recorded closely to the east (MDV) and prospecting pits and platforms are recorded in Hatherleigh Wood and Great Hatch Wood circa 135 metres to the south-west (MDV129484).
The earthworks are tentatively interpreted as spoil heaps and trackways associated with prospecting activity of post-medieval origin. Alternatively, they could be natural in origin.
