A series of irregular shaped depressions between 9 and 45 metres across are visible as earthworks on visualisations derived from lidar data captured in 2019. The depressions are situated in two small north facing wooded plots either side of the road at Quarry Corner.
Earthworks to the east of the road correspond approximately with earthworks depicted on the Tithe Map. Earthworks to the west of the road correspond approximately with depicted earthworks labelled as a quarry on the Ordnance Survey 25 inch First Edition maps. By the Second Edition the earthwork appears to contain a building. The historic landscape is characterised as quarries.
The earthworks are interpreted as extractive pits. The pits on the eastern side of the road are of post-medieval to early 19th century in origin and ceased to be worked by the late-19th century. The pits on the western side of the road are mid to late-19th century in origin and ceased to be worked by the early-20th century.
