Full description
Hoskins, W. G., 1954, A New Survey of England: Devon, 347-8 (Monograph). SDV17562.
The manor of Brent belonged to Buckfast Abbey from the time of the foundation of the abbey in the early 11th century and was bought at the Dissolution by Sir William Petre, a large receiver of monastic spoils in South Devon. South Brent id described by Hoskins as a village and 'there is no evidence to indicate that it ever attained borough status.
