Kaye, S., 2022, Possible features noted in Drewsteignton (Correspondence). SDV364797.

Possible prehistoric enclosure c.1 km south-south-west of Crockernwell identified from Google Earth 2020 aerial photograph; site visible as a dark cropmark.
The enclosure is c. 0.42 km east of Narracott House, partly on a level ridge overlooking a stream to the south. The enclosure is made of two components: a northern set of three, roughly straight-sided, cropmark ditches forming an upside down bowl. The northern side is c. 35 m long and is flanked either side by ditches c. 30 m long. The open, southern end of this inverted bowl structure is closed by a single curved (almost semi-circular) c. 66 m long ditch. The northern inverted bowl is on level ground while the southern curved ditch is on a slope down to the stream to the south (hidden by trees in the image above). Maximum elevation in the north is c.152 m sloping southwards down to c.149 m. The enclosure length N-S is c.148 m, 150 m E-W and encloses an area of c.0.2 hectares. The ditch cropmark width is c. 2.5 m.

A ditched enclosure is visible as a cropmark.

Hegarty, C., 2024, Comment on Unlocking Landscapes project lidar interpretation and associated aerial photograph interpretations (Personal Comment). SDV366085.

A possible ditched enclosure of roughly hexagonal plan, up to approximately 47m across and nearly 0.2ha area is visible as a cropmark on aerial photographs of May 2020. The plan of the enclosure is atypical for settlements of later prehistoric date. The possible segmented arrangement of enclosure ditches might support an interpretation of Neolithic date.
